I have been at KAB for nearly 25 years and I feel very much at home here. I’ve had many different jobs over the period, tried new things and seen many changes at the site. The types of seats we build now have evolved since I first started and I’ve worked on nearly all of them, including the time when we did seats for both Jaguar and Aston Martin cars!!!

The one thing that hasn’t really changed is the family atmosphere. People are always willing to help each other out, you just have to ask and there is plenty of support. I’ve made a lot of friends at KAB, and although over the years people have come and gone, the family atmosphere has remained. Having been here for 25 years, I really feel at home.

I returned to Kab in 2010 and had several roles before becoming Group Leader of the 600 line. Here I worked with a great team and learned all the jobs that go into building this seat. In 2018 there was an internal advert for a site trainer and I saw this as an opportunity to progress. I applied using the company’s internal application system. I was successful, and I am currently the Senior Trainer.

The company has given me a lot of support to learn this role and how to train people to build the seats. I was encouraged to take a professional qualification the City and Guilds for trainers, which I passed.

If I add all my time up working at Kab it comes to 37 years, and in all that time the atmosphere has been friendly almost like family.

I started in Kab from the agency in 2018, to work on the late shift as a robot operator. I got noticed through my work ethic and ability and was asked to run the section on day shift.
I got offered my full-time contract from Kab in Aug 2018 and through my commitment and team building ability I managed to get a product leader job role.

I have a small, dedicated team working with me on the sub-side who work very well together.
My job role is to ensure my team is supported so they can work to their full potential throughout the working day.

I feel I receive the support and encouragement through both the good times and the bad from everyone around me.
I see myself working here up until (and perhaps beyond) my retirement!

KAB Seating is the first ever company that I worked for in England since 2018. When I first joined the company, I started to work on 500/Pod line as general operator, where I used to build suspensions. I have learnt various jobs including inspection and packing.

To be honest I encouraged myself to “build right first time” and focus on quality, although people I have worked with have helped me to become where I am now.

 I applied for the trainer job in 2020, because I wanted a new challenge and help other people better themselves.

Definition to all of that is, I have found the right company to work for, and have been encouraged to learn new skills and improve myself as an individual and as a valued team member.

I started with KAB via an agency in February 2021, working in logistics as a line runner, my main task was to keep parts stocked up within the different sections to ensure production didn’t stop due to part shortages. I arrived with a can-do attitude and my efforts and work ethic have not gone unnoticed.

By July I was offered a full-time contract
In August, I received a promotion and made Logistics Line Support Team Leader

Since then, I have learned various different roles and sections, I have gained a number of new skills including getting my LLOP, COUNTERBALANCE and REACH TRUCK LICENCES.
I always want to progress and be better in everything I do, both in and out of work, and at KAB I am and continuing to do just that.

I’m now 1 year into my employment within the company everyone is friendly and outgoing and let’s face it, I’m the best thing they have seen since sliced bread.
I can see myself being here for many more years to come.
